According to NAQAAE establishment law, the authority is responsible for evaluating more than 50,000 educational institutions to be accredited within 5 years, such institutions are categorized as follows:
A- Higher Education: A Total of 623 institutions (34 universities, 589 faculties and institutes) with a total of approximately 4 million students.
B- Pre-University Education: A total of 49,640 educational institution hosting 18,482,872 students. These institutes include governmental schools, private schools and Al-Azhar institutes.
C- Al-Azhar Education:
Al-Azhar University: is considered to be one of the largest educational institutions in Egypt and the Arabic world and maybe in the whole world considering the number of its faculties and students (64 faculties and 420,000 students). Al-Azhar University is distinguished by providing educational service to foreign students in Egyptian universities (20,000 students) from all over the world. The 64 faculties are distributed among 16 governorates where they have effective role in dissemination of a moderate religious culture and life-related sciences.
Al-Azhar Pre-University Education: There are comprised of school from K-12, it teaches diversified religious curriculum characterized by religious tolerance and a moderate Islamic teachings. The total Al-Azhar school are more than 8000 schools distributed across Egypt.
D- Technical education: A total of 2063 technical schools.
